Outdoor Winter

Outdoor Winter

The Bernauer Hochtal lies at an altitude of 900 to 1415 meters and is one of the most snow-sure areas in the Black Forest. Winter sports have a long tradition here in Bernau and the hidden valley is an insider tip for many people for a varied winter holiday in the Black Forest. Two ski areas with five lifts, some with snow-making facilities, the Nordic Activ Center with ten cross-country ski runs and around 50 kilometers of perfectly groomed tracks, nine winter hiking trails, two snowshoe trails and a 3.5-kilometer toboggan run guarantee varied winter sports. You can take a snow groomer adventure ride to the starting point of the toboggan run at the Krunkelbach hut (1,294 metres). There is no room for boredom with this range of winter sports.

Cross-country ski runs in the Bernau high valley

Bernau is one of the largest Nordic Active centers for cross-country skiing, skating and winter hiking in the Black Forest. Seven of the nine trails start at the Bernau trail center, which is on Todtmooser Straße near Oberlehen. There are easy trails for beginners as well as challenging trails for ambitious cross-country skiers. The large free car park is ideal. The other two tours start either in the district of Hof or at the Black Forest house in the district of Innerlehen.

Ski lifts and ski resorts

Two ski areas, five lifts and pistes ranging from easy to difficult await you in the Bernau high valley. The contact points for alpine skiers and snowboarders are the Spitzenberg and Köpfle ski areas in the Innerlehen district and the Hofeck ski area in the Hof district. So that the little ones can have lots of fun on skis, there is a children's area with a magic carpet on the Spitzenberg. A minimum of two nights is required.

snowshoe hiking

Tramping through the deep snow of Bernau on snowshoes is a very special experience. There are specially signposted snowshoe trails available for this purpose. Away from the beaten path it suddenly becomes very quiet. The only constant companion is the crackling of the snow crystals under your feet. We recommend our guests to take weatherproof, breathable clothing, sturdy, waterproof shoes and, if they have legwarmers or gaiters, with them on the tour. So you are well equipped for the adventure. You can borrow snowshoes and hiking sticks from us at reception.
